A memorial service for Roy “Sonny” Douglas Bailey, 85, of Mineola, will be held Saturday, July 30, at 11 a.m. at the Broad Street Church of Christ in Mineola. He is buried at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Mr. Bailey died Tuesday, July 26, at his home following a four-month battle with cancer.

He was born in Dallas on January 3, 1926 to the late R.C. and Betty Bailey. He served in the Army during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was the owner and operator of Sonny’s Pest Control in Mineola.

Mr. Bailey was an avid Texas Rangers fan and enjoyed both playing and listening to classic country music.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Delafield Scholarship Fund, Mineola and the Glynnis Good Academy for chldren in Ghana, West Africa, both administered by the Broad Street Church of Christ, P.O. Box 104, Mineola, Texas 75773.
